When I was not blogging last month, I was about and about with my partner E where we took a trip to her old hometown. On recent trips there, she’s told me about a nearby cinema that we’ve always tried to get around to see, but never really found time to do. The last time we went in July, we got the time to do it and I see why she made such a big deal about it. Trust me the theater itself is far more impressive than the cinema’s website
It’s almost more of a cinema museum than a theater!
Don’t get too excited about the horror exhibit. I only took one photo. More below!
The cinema was loaded with filming and theater equipment. Here’s a copy of Final Cut Pro version 0.1.
As I said, strewn with equipment. Some of these camera were silent film projectors dating back to the 1910s. Crazy!
Friends from Japan! The theater’s walls inside are covered in film posters. I didn’t get a chance to ask if they were all originals, but some clearly are not re-prints.
This giant banner across this poster suggests it’s an original. Screw you Ontario Board of Censors. You can’t tell me what to see.

In the early hallway, there are small glass containers dedicated to individual decades with appropriate memorabilia within. Here’s the 1990s display.

This is from the horror exibit. There were mostly large models dressed as horror icons from the 1980s and up. Most photos came out to dark, but I took a picture of this ugly motherfucker.
The cinema is only open in the summer and has about three screening rooms. This is the only disappointing thing about the theater is that the screens are so small! It’s still worth a trip to see however if you are ever in the Kinmount, Ontario area. Seek it out!
